Vetafarm Avimec is a safe and effective drop on treatment for Scaly Face Mite and is recommended for Budgerigars. It is simple to administer. Multiple treatments may be required over time, depending on the severity of the infestation. As these mites only live on the bird, treating the cage with a mite spray is unnecessary.
Avimec is an external treatment and is safe to use in conjunction with food additives, supplements and oral medications.
Treatment:
Drops should be placed on an unfeathered area of skin.
One drop should be applied to birds with a body weight up to 30g. Two drops should be applied to birds weighing between 30g-100g.
Repeat applications weekly for three doses. Treat all birds in the aviary. Full recovery may take up to 6 weeks.
