Dogs are exposed to intestinal worms, even before they are born. Some species of worms can transfer to puppies through the placenta, or from their mothers milk. Puppies under six months of age need to be wormed more frequently than adults as they are particularly susceptible to infestation. Unwormed puppies are at risk of developing gastrointestinal problems like diarrhoea and vomiting, poor growth, anaemia and even death. To avoid this, puppies should be wormed every two weeks from two to twelve weeks of age, then monthly until they are at least six months old.
Drontal Worming Suspension for Puppies is a liquid worming suspension for the control of roundworm, hookworm and whipworms in puppies. The suspension does not treat heartworm. The active ingredients are febantel and pyrantel embonate. The suspension is given as a single dose by mouth using the dosing syringe included in the pack.
